A Promise Is a Promise!

Romans 11:29

"For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance." [KJV]

"For God's gifts and His call are irrevocable - He never withdraws them when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call." [Amplified]

"God's gifts and God's call are under full warranty - never canceled, never rescinded." [The Message]

In spite of the disappointments and the setbacks of the past, the calling of God (to be ministers... to use our gifts... to stay refreshed and anointed) is still in tact! However, because of human weaknesses, people do get hurt, sometimes by long-time friends, sometimes by fellow Christians, sometimes by people in the local congregation.

When this happens, often times the injured person wants to retreat to himself, withdraw from any association of the party who caused the hurt, or from people in general. This withdrawal or hiding only compounds the feeling of hurt and hinders our ability to be the person God has intended for us to be... and, guess what... this is exactly what the devil wants Christians to do.

However, Paul admonishes us in Romans 11:29 that God's call on us is always there. Even when we are hurt and hurting, God never retracts His call and plan for us to use our gifts, our talents, and our energies for His purpose and will for our lives IF we will get past the door of hurt. And, in order to come out of this hiding and withdrawal, we must step out and take the chance of getting hurt again - only then can we be released from the bondage and stronghold of pain, set free to exercise and walk in the glory of God... and to say as Paul said when he finished that chapter: [The Message]

Everything comes from him;
Everything happens through him;
Everything ends up in him.
Always glory! Always praise!
Yes. Yes. Yes.

Dear Heavenly Father, for those hurt and hurting people reading this site today, help them to understand and feel that even though their circumstances seem bleak and forbidding, YOU will never retrack your desire to bless and prosper them. YOU will never leave them, YOU will never take back your promise to be a comfort to them in their time of pain and discouragement. Help them, Oh God, to lift up their heads, look up and drink from your refreshing waters TODAY. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.
